Proper
Zoning - High Velocity
By
following these tested guidelines for zoning the SpacePak system
you will avoid coil freeze-ups, air noise, damper failures, etc.
Right now zoning is accomplished in the main plenum, but testing
and product development is currently underway for zoning of individual
outlets, which will involve mini 2" dampers which will be
installed right at the plenum take off. As soon as this new technology
is available, you will see it here.

gain from glass and sun exposure
perform
a comfort survey to see which areas will have
more people and need more airflow
Be
generous when grouping rooms in to zones
no
more than 3 zones
every
zone should consist of multiple rooms with
the same demand for air. Like bedrooms and
living areas.
Use
3.5 outlets per zone, per ton minimum
You
may increase the number of outlets per zone/ton
increasing
the number of outlets per zone provides additional
points of relief
example
2-ton, 2-zone system will have a minimum of
7 outlets per zone
Do
not use a bypass damper
high
velocity systems run with supply air temps
much lower than typical systems
bypassing
air back to the return will cause coil freezing
Use
dampers on the plenum and branch dampers on 2"
tubes
install
a zone damper on each plenum going to each
zone and use branch dampers on individual
2" runs
letting
up to 10% blow-by in closed (off) zones will
keep pressure and air noise acceptable
allowing
the blow-by in closed zones also reduces damper
stress

Arzel®
- Zoning Equipment
High
velocity pneumatic zoning equipment. Zone control panels include
transformer and are a proven, basic zoning panel. Dampers are
simple to install and are connected to the zone panel by air lines,
not wiring. Use PVC tubing for installation outside of ductwork.
Use Plenum tubing for installation inside of ductwork. Need more
